Adam Sandler is a popular American actor and comedian, best known for his comedic roles in Hollywood films. He made his acting debut in the TV show The Cosby Show in 1987, and later began his film career with Going Overboard (1989), his first movie appearance. Beyond acting, Sandler is also a talented musician and stand-up comedian, having released several successful comedy albums. Born into a Jewish family, Sandler attended Manchester Central High School before graduating from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in 1988. He started performing stand-up comedy at local clubs at the young age of 17, and in the early 1990s, he joined Saturday Night Live (SNL) as a writer. During his time at SNL, he became a beloved cast member, thanks to his quirky songs and memorable characters. Sandler rose to fame after his first major hit, Billy Madison (1995), directed by Tamra Davis. Following the success of Billy Madison, he built a large fan base who loved his style of comedy. In 1996, he starred in another major success, Happy Gilmore, which became an international hit. In addition to movies, Sandler’s comedy albums also achieved great success. His debut album, They're All Gonna Laugh at You! (1993), was nominated for a Grammy Award, and his second album, What the Hell Happened to Me? (1996), gained massive popularity. Building on the success of his films Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore, Sandler founded his own production company, Happy Madison Productions, in 1999. Through this company, he produced many of his own comedies as well as other comedy films. In 2003, Adam Sandler married former model and actress Jackie Sandler, whom he had met while filming Big Daddy. Jackie has since appeared in several of his films in supporting roles. Throughout his career, Adam Sandler has won numerous awards, including four consecutive People’s Choice Awards for Favorite Comedic Movie Actor from 2012 to 2015.
